Gunsmith Cats is a thrilling ride that I think really shows how good anime from the '90s can be. Combining high-octane action with a dash of gritty charm, its honestly amazing! It’s based on Kenichi Sonoda's manga of the same name and has a good mix of explosive gunfights, charismatic characters, and a dose of humor, that always keeps you wanting more.

While not particularly known for its intricate storytelling, it manages to deliver a compelling narrative within its limited 3 episode runtime. The characters are undoubtedly the heart of the series. It mainly revolves around two gun savvy bounty hunters, Rally Vincent, a sharpshooter with a no nonsense attitude and Minnie-May Hopkins, the explosive enthusiast with a penchant for chaos, as they tackle various criminal cases. Their chemistry and friendship are the core of the series, and their personalities complement each other perfectly. Each episode is basically it’s own story, with a lil bit of character development in it. While the plot isn't groundbreaking, it serves as a good backdrop for the intense action sequences and character interactions.

It really doesn't hold back when it comes to action. Each episode is packed with car chases, and explosions that'll keep you on the edge of your seat. The way the action unfolds is seamless and skillfully choreographed, displaying a clear attention to detail when it comes to firearms, tactical maneuvers, and combat sequences that definetly deserve recognition. It's a gun afficionado's dream come true, and the action sequences never feel forced, instead always serving the story in some way or another.

Overall I really like it! Its memorable and has a lot of style compared to other OVAs. It really stood the test of time, and while it may not have the most complex storytelling, it more than makes up for it. The animation is great, but sadly, its short length may leave you wanting more, but there’s a manga to read as well. It feels like an anime version of an action movie, and a good, well rounded watch if you’re in the mood for something short. A great 8/10 OVA.
